فيما ينقل ( لوغوف ) عن المؤرخ الفرنسي ( لوسيان فيڤر ) قوله: ” لقد كان للمسيحية عبر انتقالها ، متخطية الحدود السيئة الترسيم بين الممالك الشديدة التنوع والاختلاف … واعطت بذلك الغربيين وعياً مشتركا ، تجاوز الحدود التي تباعد بينهم ، وهو وعي تحرر شيئاً فشيئاً من السلطة الدينية ، فتَعَلْمَن وأصبح وعياً أوربيًا ” .
ويوجز الجامعي الفرنسي ( فيليب نيمو ) في كتاب ” ما هو الغرب ” معالم ” النشأة التشكيلية الثقافية ” للغرب بمجموعة روافد صبّت لرفد الحاضر الأوربي ، نزيدها نحن إيجازاً بالاتي : ” المدينة والمعارف الإغريقية – المفاهيم والقوانين الرومانية – التعاليم المسيحية – الظاهرة البابوية التي ربطت بين الموروث الإغريقي والروماني والتوراتي – اثينا ، روما ، القدس – الليبرالية والتعددية ” .
