ليس كل بلاد مصر كانت تدين بعقيدة الفراعنة ، كما انّ ليس كل بلاد الرومان كانت تدين بعبادة الإمبراطور ، لكنهما كانا يخضعان للفراعنة والأباطرة .
انّ الحديث عن الديانة الرسمية لبلد ما لا يعني وصم كل الشعوب القاطنة هناك بما فيها . ففي مصر وفي اليونان وبلاد الرومان كانت هناك ديانة رسمية ، وعقلية حكومية ، ضمن مجموعة من الاعتقادات الكبرى المحيطة .
لذلك حين يريد القران الكريم الحديث عن الجهة التي آذت موسى وبني إسرائيل لم يكن يعمّم الإشارة إلى بلاد مصر ، بل كان يختصّ بالفرعون وملأه ، أي من الساسة والعسكر ، [ وَإِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰكُم مِّنْ آل فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سوء ٱلْعَذَابِ يُذَبِّحُونَ أبناءكم وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نساءكم وَفِى ذَٰلِكُم بلاء مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عظيم [الجزء: ١ | البقرة (٢)| الآية: ٤٩] ، [ وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَنجَيْنَٰكُمْ وأغرقنا آل فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ [الجزء: ١ | البقرة (٢)| الآية: ٥٠] ، [ وَلَقَدْ أخذنا آل فِرْعَوْنَ بِٱلسِّنِينَ ونقص مِّنَ الثمرات لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ [الجزء: ٩ | الأعراف (٧)| الآية: ١٣٠] ، [ ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ [الجزء: ٩ | الأعراف (٧)| الآية: ١٠٣] .
اما إذا أراد الإشارة الى البلاد دون القضية السياسية او الدينية فكان يعبّر عنها بمصر فقط ، [ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّآ لِقَوْمِكُمَا بِمِصْرَ بُيُوتًا وَاجْعَلُوا بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةً وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [الجزء: ١١ | يونس (١٠)| الآية: ٨٧] ، [ وإذ قلتم يا موسى لن نصبر على طعام واحد فادع لنا ربك يخرج لنا مما تنبت الأرض من بقلها وقثائها وفومها وعدسها وبصلها ۖ قال أتستبدلون الذي هو أدنى بالذي هو خير ۚ اهبطوا مصرا فإن لكم ما سألتم ۗ وضربت عليهم الذلة والمسكنة وباءوا بغضب من الله ۗ ذلك بأنهم كانوا يكفرون بآيات الله ويقتلون النبيين بغير الحق ۗ ذلك بما عصوا وكانوا يعتدون [الجزء: ١ | البقرة (٢)| الآية: ٦١] ، [ وقال الذي اشتراه من مصر لامرأته أكرمي مثواه عسى أن ينفعنا أو نتخذه ولدا ۚ وكذلك مكنا ليوسف في الأرض ولنعلمه من تأويل الأحاديث ۚ والله غالب على أمره ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون [الجزء: ١٢ | يوسف (١٢)| الآية: ٢١] .
ومن هنا يمكننا القول انّ البحث في الديانة الفرعونية لا يعني اننا نبحث في الديانة المصرية ، فالعلاقة بينهما كالعلاقة بين ديانات القبّاليين والديانة اليهودية او الإبراهيمية . ولا يشير الكتاب الى كون مصر هي أمّ لشرور الارض ، بل على العكس كانت مصر من اوّل البلدان التي انتشرت فيها المسيحية الموحّدة ، والتي قاومت مختلف الضغوط الوثنية . لذلك هناك مصر اخرى ، غير مصر الفرعونية ، هي التي قصدها يوسف النبي [ فلما دخلوا على يوسف آوى إليه أبويه وقال ادخلوا مصر إن شاء الله آمنين [الجزء: ١٣ | يوسف (١٢)| الآية: ٩٩] .
